Babylon Is Fallen
In the Bible, Babylon is more than just an ancient empire.
It represents a spiritual system that lures people with false promises of power, wealth, and pleasure, all while pulling them away from God.
Babylon is the epitome of human rebellion toward God, masking foolishness with fun and sin with “YOLO” thinking.
It feeds on greed, corruption, immorality, and the persecution of God’s people. As Revelation 17:6 points out, “She (Babylon) was drunk with the blood of God’s holy people who were witnesses for Jesus.”
But Babylon eventually falls. “Babylon is fallen—that great city is fallen!” (Revelation 18:2)
Why did it fall? Pride.
Pride convinces us we’re invincible, but it always leads to a fall. It’s as predictable and dependable as gravity, pulling you down fast.
Don’t be deceived. Don’t be short-sighted. Look at the end result of Babylon and learn the way of humility.
“So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.” (1 Peter 5:6)
Reflection: Where do you see Babylon’s influence in today’s culture?
