In 1977, I was born into the Mylin family. I didn’t earn it the name. I didn’t prove myself first. I simply arrived in the world as a son with the name Mylin.
Now Kelly and I have three children. Same story. They didn’t fill out an application. They didn’t work to prove they were worthy of being in our family. They were born. And they were Mylins.
That’s how it works in God’s kingdom.
John writes, “But to all who believed in Him and accepted Him, He gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn – not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.” (John 1:12-13)
When you believe in Jesus, you’re reborn. Spiritually. Eternally. And that changes everything.
Here’s what that means:
1. Your past no longer defines you.
Your background, family history, successes, and failures don’t determine your identity. So don’t let it dictate your future.
2. You’re forgiven.
You’re adopted into His family with all the rights and privileges of His child.
3. Your identity comes from God, not people.
You don’t have to prove anything to anyone. And you’ve been given a name that can’t be revoked.
4. You’ve been given a purpose.
No wondering or wandering, trying to find meaning. You’ve been given a place in God’s family and a role in His mission. So don’t drift.
You’ve been reborn into God’s family. You received eternal life when you believed in and accepted Jesus. You received a new identity as a child of God.
The adventure of faith is to live like it.
Reflection: How does knowing you belong to God shape your purpose right now?
We are God's masterpieces !!!!
I'm a child of God
