Intimidators will intimidate
“Powerful people harass me without cause, but my heart trembles at your word.” (Psalm 119:161-168)
Intimidation is as old as power itself. Someone with influence, position, money, or a title can make you feel small very quickly. The pressure is real, and the consequences can be too. The psalmist doesn’t deny that but simply refuses to let it define him.
Notice the contrast. He does not tremble at the harassment of rulers. He says his heart trembles at God’s word. That shows allegiance. Fear will attach itself to something, but the question is, what?
If you fear man most, you will edit yourself by compromise.
If you fear God most, you will stand steady even when your voice shakes.
Preempt intimidation by settling something deeper. Intimidators don’t have the final word. Power on earth is temporary. God’s word endures forever.
Fill your mouth with praise. Cling to the truth and refuse falsehoods. These are the ways the psalmist combats intimidation through settled allegiance.
Intimidators are gonna intimidate. It’s what they do.
The question is what makes our hearts tremble?

Awesome word!!!!
“Fear and intimidation is a trap that holds you back. But when you place your confidence in the Lord, you will be seated in the high place.”
