Ordinary And Assigned
For a long time, I thought my life was pretty ordinary. Because it was.
I wasn’t the most talented, smartest, or most charismatic person in the room, and I wondered if God could do much through me.
Then I came across Ephesians 2:10: “He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.”
Knowing that He has already prepared good works for me has been one of the most life-changing truths for me.
This changed how I saw myself. And Galatians 6:4 gave me a new way to live it out: “Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else.”
When I was a teenager, those good works looked like learning music and using it to serve the church.
As a parent, they looked like raising kids and teaching them to love Jesus.
Now, as a pastor, they look like shepherding people and equipping them to align their purpose with God’s kingdom.
The assignment may shift with each season, but the purpose remains the same.
God has good works with your name on them.
