Renew A Corrupted Mind
Years ago, I bought my first keyboard, a Korg 01/W. I had saved up about $2,000, which felt enormous as a teenager in the nineties. I loved this keyboard. The sounds and the ability to layer tracks and record gave me the freedom to create.
A few months later it started glitching. It would freeze, crash, and erase ideas I was working on. Frustrating does not even begin to describe it.
I did what many people do. I ignored it and hoped it would fix itself. It never did.
When I told my mom, she asked a simple question. Did you call the company? I had not. I assumed I was stuck with a corrupted keyboard.
She explained what a warranty was and told me to call. After mustering the courage to contact them, and some back and forth, they replaced it. And my musical creations would continue.
Paul gives similar clarity to the church in Ephesus. “Live no longer as the Gentiles do…Their minds are full of darkness…get rid of your old sinful nature and former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception.” (Read Ephesians 4:17-22)
Since our minds have been corrupted by sin, we can’t ignore it. It has been damaged, and the damage does not self-correct.
There is a path to getting a renewed mind.
Renewal requires intervention from the Maker, not self-repair. Paul says, “Let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes.” (Ephesians 4:23)
Renew is a powerful word. It means something that was once new has been damaged and needs restoration.
Renewal is not self-improvement. It doesn’t start with adding better habits.
The first step is going to the One who made you. It’s a daily surrender to the Holy Spirit to restore what sin has damaged.

This is the day the Lord has made, and I shall rejoice in him! Every day we get a chance to renew, Thank goodness!
Good stuff. May I remember to do so and make it priority.
